Systems Administrator

Position Description:
Responsible for management and development of the Colorado Virtual Library system infrastructure, including hardware and ongoing operations. Responsible for the stability, efficiency and security of servers and network, which includes nine servers and miscellaneous network components and peripherals. With guidance and input from colleagues and director, is responsible for systems innovation, growth and improvements. Manages installation and operation of Windows systems and software to support the Colorado Virtual Library, the statewide resource sharing system (SWIFT), as well as the Colorado Historic Newspaper Collection (Olive software). Successful candidates must possess exceptional communication skills and be able to demonstrate attention to detail. Requirements:
Associates degree or higher in computer science, information systems or other related technical discipline and three years of relevant work experience required. Must have networking experience (including a solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routers and firewalls), as well as practical experience implementing security concepts and practices. Candidates must have experience administering Windows Server 2000-2003 and have experience administering UNIX servers. Interpersonal skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills are a must. Desired: knowledge of Solaris 7 and hardware skills. Experience and familiarity with Linux desired.
Preferred:
Experience and familiarity with library-related systems and software, including library environments, is a real plus.
Compensation: $49,000 to $58,000, depending on qualifications, plus benefits. Great medical, dental and retirement plans.
