Internet Filtering Teleconference to be Presented

AURORA, CO, FEBRUARY 26, 2001 — Internet Dilemma: Filtered or Nonfiltered" is the subject of a national satellite teleconference to be presented live from Indianapolis on Wednesday, April 11, at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time, 2:30 p.m. Central 1:30 p.m. Mountain and 12:30 p.m. Pacific.

This interactive 90-minute teleconference will include discussion of the current laws, the issues and the technology surrounding Internet filtering. During the discussion, viewers will be able to email or phone in questions and comments.

Featured speakers are librarians Carrie Gardner and Michael B. Wessells, former congressman Andrew Jacobs Jr. and attorney Peter Rusthoven.

The live satellite teleconference is available on C-band and KU-band satellites at $150 per downlink site. Volume discounts are available to state library agencies: 11 - 20 sites $100 per site, 21 or more sites $75 per site. There are no limits on the number of attendees at a participating site. Downlink site coordinators will receive packets with satellite information and handouts for those attending. Participating sites may make one videotape copy of the program. Additional videotapes will be for sale.
