BCR Cataloging Federal Documents
for Wyoming State Library

AURORA, CO, December 17, 2003 — Catalogers at the Bibliographical Center for Research (BCR) are performing original cataloging on a wide variety of state and federal documents for the Wyoming State Library. Ninety-nine percent of the documents are Wyoming related, with the remaining documents associated with surrounding states. Among the materials are Forest Service, Bureau of Reclamation and Soil Conservation Service documents and reports, as well as declassified documents from the U.S. Air Force. The cataloging project has been customized to meet the needs of the Wyoming State Library, both in structure and affordability. The project is expected to take from three years to five years to complete.

BCR's contract cataloging supplements the work of staff at the Wyoming State Library, said Rosario Garza, BCR assistant director for Member Services. BCR catalogers are working with reference staff at the State Library who want to make these documents available to the public.

The Wyoming federal documents cataloging project has been undertaken by BCR's Contract Cataloging Services, which performs not only original cataloging, but also copy cataloging, retrospective conversion and cataloging of special formats, including foreign language materials, maps, electronic resources and musical scores. All work, which is tailored to meet each library's particular needs, is guaranteed.

For questions concerning BCR Contract Cataloging Services, please contact Rosario Garza or Dig Chinn, Cataloging Services manager, at (303) 751-6277 or (800) 397-1552.
