BCR Offers New Savings on LTI Authority ServicesAURORA, CO, JUNE 10, 2004 — BCR member libraries can now take advantage of special discounted prices on authority control services from Library Technologies, Inc. (LTI), the foremost library database preparation vendor in the market. Effective immediately, for new (or returning) batch authority control customers who are BCR members, LTI is offering a 10 percent discount off its regular rates for both limited review (machine-processing only) and full manual review (review of unmatched headings by LTI's staff of editors) of LC (Library of Congress) name and subject authority records. LTI's file of authority records is not simply derived from LC. It has been supplemented with approximately 1.8 million name and subject authority records for which no LC authority record exists. In addition to LC names and subjects, LTI offers services for LC Children's and Sears subject headings, NLM MeSH subjects, as well as select genre headings. LTI also provides ongoing authority control services: Authority Express (AEX) and Authority Update Processing (AUP). AEX provides control over headings in new bibliographic records, which can be reviewed and corrected within one hour after a file of new records is submitted to LTI. AUP is a service that provides notification of changed headings and includes an option to have your bibliographic records corrected and delivered to you online. While LTI cannot provide a discount on the processing fees for AEX or AUP, for BCR members it is waiving its one-time fee of $500 to register a library's existing authority file. For further details on LTI's services and prices, please see the LTI Web site at www.authoritycontrol.com. Remember: to receive your discount, you must notify LTI that your library is a BCR member when you place your order. BCR, a multistate library service nonprofit, helps member l ibraries acquire, implement and manage automated information services. BCR provides the latest in information and technology training including Web-based workshops; access, training and support for OCLC services; discounts on reference databases, electronic books, library-related software and hardware; consulting; online database publishing; and custom cataloging.
