Art and Architecture Thesaurus
Also maintained by the Getty Information Institute, the Art and Architecture Thesaurus is a comprehensive vocabulary of nearly 120,000 terms for identifying and describing objects, textural materials, images, architecture, and material culture from antiquity to the present. Pertains predominantly to the Western world but extends to other cultures as well. It is available on the web.
MESH
MESH (Medical Subject Headings) comprise the National Library of Medicine's controlled vocabulary and are used for indexing articles, cataloging books, and for searching MESH-indexed databases.

The Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names (TGN), published and maintained by the Getty Information Institute, has recently been made available electronically on the web. TGN has over 1 million records for over 900,000 places around the world. The TGN includes coordinates (latitude and longitude) and a descriptive note. The TGN is hierarchical and global in scope.
Union List of Artists' Names
Also maintained by the Getty Information Institute, the Union List of Artists' Names is a database consisting of over 200,000 entries about 100,000 artists, architects and performers. Includes clustered records of pseudonyms, variant spellings, and language variants. It is available on the web.
