Sound Model

Sound Model: Collaborative Infrastructure for Digital Audio, funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, was designed to enable library and museum users to easily find and use primary audio resources in the context of other materials in the same disciplines. As part of the project an exhibit "The West Out Loud" and lesson plans were also created.

Most elements of the project can be adopted or adapted by other collaborative digitization programs. As the result of the project, the BCR's Collaborative Digitization Program provides access to more than 2,000 audio objects, plus related photographs, manuscripts and artifacts, through local and federated searching. This project has, and will continue to, increase the capacity of cultural heritage organizations to share audio resources with their visitors and users.
