New Directors

• Wyoming -- Lesley Boughton, currently director of the Natrona County Library, has been named Wyoming State Librarian. She will begin her duties January 2, 1999. Other new directors are: Sandra Munger, director, Big Horn County Library System. Scott Kinney, manager of technical services, Laramie County Library System

• Kansas -- Dr. Robert Grover, interim dean, Emporia State University School of Library and Information Management (SLIM). Carolyn Guernsey, assistant director, Southwest Kansas Library System. Barbara Stransky, library services coordinator, Northeast Kansas Library System.

• Colorado -- David Gleim, dean/director, Auraria Library. Diane Schieman-Christman, director of development, Denver Public Library. Lynn Reed, information services manager, Boulder Public Library. Anne V. Ellis, director of librarian relations, West Group. Ed Volz, director, Estes Valley Library District.

• Iowa -- Lorraine Knox, head of the science and technology department, Iowa State University Library.

• Nevada -- Donnie Curtis, director of research services, University of Nevada, Reno. Daniel Walters, executive director, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District.

• Utah -- Francine Fisk, director, McFarlin Library.

Decorah Public Library received the National Organization on Disabilities Award at ALA for library programs and buildings that have improved its services to the disabled.

Karen Davis, community information librarian at the Lawrence (Kansas) Public Library, is the Kansas winner of the first annual MCI Cybrarian of the Year award.

The Rocky Mountain chapter of the Special Libraries Association has recognized a number of Colorado librarians: Wanda McDavid with its Meritorious Service Award, Kimberly O'Neill with its Horizon Award and Katherine Kent with the annual Rebecca Jackson Scholarship.

MCI has named John Averett, librarian at Springville Public Library, the Utah winner of the first annual MCI Cybrarian of the Year award.

Iowa City Public Library has received a $60,000 grant from the Roy Carver Charitable Trust of Muscatine to help fund the library's new automated system.

Boulder (Colorado) Public Library and the Cedar Rapids Public Library (Iowa) are two of 28 public and academic libraries chosen to host "The Jazz Age in Paris: 1914-1940" traveling exhibit.
