The OCLC Cataloging Fixed Fee pricing information for fiscal year 1999-2000 will be
mailed to BCR/OCLC library directors by the end of April. The Cataloging Fixed Fee
program gives a library the opportunity to have 12 months of predictable OCLC
cataloging costs. Price quotes for FY 1999-2000 are based on each
library's actual activity from January 1, 1997, through December 31, 1998.
Beginning in FY 1999-2000, the fixed fee program will be done using five product
codes, as opposed to the three used previously. The five product codes are:
FIX1002: Online cataloging activity
FIX1007: Offline cataloging activity
FIX1010: Other cataloging activity (such as profile change requests)
FIX1012: Cataloging credits
FIX1013: Cataloging offset credits (i.e., holdings deletions)
Another change for the coming year is that the discount offered to libraries that have
increased their cataloging activity and are continuing fixed fee participants is being
reduced from 50 percent to 25 percent.
Individual library cost information, a list of product codes for this program and the
appropriate form for subscribing are included in the mailing. Completed forms from
libraries wishing to participate in the Cataloging Fixed Fee program for FY 1999-2000
are due at BCR by 5 p.m. Friday, June 4. If you have questions about this program,
