Three BCR member libraries are among the 51 libraries designated as Sister Libraries: A White House Millennium Council Project sites -- Ames (Iowa) Public Library, Shawnee Branch of the Johnson County (Kansas) Library and Washoe County (Nevada) Public Library.

The Wyoming State Library received the 1999 Award of Excellence from the Wyoming State Archives.

Kay McCloskey, of the University of Utah's Eccles Health Sciences Library, received the 1999 Michael E. DeBakey Library Services Outreach Award sponsored by the Friends of the National Library of Medicine.

A Southern Utah University enhanced searching library project was recognized by the Council on Library and Information Resources as one of the nine best innovations in university libraries in 1998.

Richard Hacken, Brigham Young University, was awarded the Martinus Nijhoff Western European Specialists Section Study Grant for 1999 by the Association of College and Research Libraries.
