The state of Wyoming led the nation in use of PCs in schools with 89.2 percent of the state's public school students using computers, according to a study done by Market Data Retrieval. Kansas was fourth on the list with 83.1 percent of its students using computers in public schools.

Wichita Public Library has been awarded a $500,000 challenge grant by the National Endowment for the Humanities to create an endowment for humanities materials acquisitions and education programming. It must be matched with $1.5 million by the community.

Oskalossa Public Library has won two awards for architectural design and craftsmanship: the Masonry Institute of Iowa's Grand Award for its architecture and the Golden Trowel Award for its masonry.

Diana Fricke, a student at the Emporia in the Rockies Colorado 5 program, has been awarded the School Librarian's Workshop Scholarship sponsored by the American Association of School Librarians and the Librarian Learning Resources Company.

Ada Howard, director of the Fremont County Library System, is Wyoming Library Association Librarian of the Year.

The Utah Center for the Book is being established at the Salt Lake City Public Library. Initial projects include supporting the Great Salt Lake Book Fair and developing an annual literary and book arts award program.
