Montana's public libraries are receiving approximately $1 million from the Gates
Learning Foundation for connections and equipment to get all of them wired to the
Internet.
Libraries throughout the BCR region are among 50 recipients of financial awards from
the Institute of Museum and Library Services. They are: University of Denver Colorado
Digitization Project, Eastern Iowa Community College District's Advanced Technology
Environmental Education Library, Kansas State Historical Society/Kansas Collection at
the University of Kansas digitization project.
Teton County Library was named one of 10 great places to go in the February 26, 1999,
issue of USA Today article featuring great reading rooms.
Decorah (Iowa) Public Library was featured in the March 1999 edition of Cityscape as a
"1998 All-Star Community Award Winner."
The Kansas Traveling Library Commission is marking its 100th anniversary in 1999.
