OCLC CatExpress Subscriptions Now
Available for Special Introductory Offer
By Rosario Garza
OCLC and BCR are making available an introductory offer to new OCLC CatExpress
subscribers. Libraries can now obtain an introductory 13-month CatExpress subscription
for the price of 12 months. This offer
allows libraries to use CatExpress the first month at no-risk; they can cancel during the
first month if they are dissatisfied with the service. Library staff can test drive
CatExpress to see for themselves what their hit rate will be.
As with any introductory offer, there are restrictions:
- Only new subscriptions are eligible.
- Libraries joining existing CatExpress groups are not eligible.
- All subscriptions will continue to start on the first of the month. Orders must be
received by the 21st of the month to be eligible to start on the first day of the
following month.
- For libraries that cancel their subscriptions, OCLC profiling charges will not be
refunded. (Note: OCLC profiling charges are incurred only if a
library does not currently use OCLC for ILL, union listing or FirstSearch.)
-
Activity in the first month will not count toward excess usage calculations.
Invoicing will be automatic on the second month's invoice.
-
No renewal notices will be sent at the end of the first month. If a library does not
wish to proceed, the library is responsible for notifying BCR and OCLC before
the end of the month so the order can be cancelled.
A library's effective subscription start date is its second month of service. For instance, a
library's first year with a January implementation would run January 1, 2001, to January
30, 2002. That library would be billed on the February 2001 invoice. Its subsequent
subscription years would run February 1 to January 30.
To receive the introductory offer, libraries must type in a
special promotional code on their CatExpress order form. To obtain the code or if you
have questions contact Rosario Garza (rgarza@bcr.org) at BCR.
