New SilverPlatter Databases
SilverPlatter Information now offers access to three new research resources -- FRANCIS,
PASCAL Biomed and PASCAL SciTech. Each provides international, scholarly
coverage of their disciplines and can be purchased individually or combined in either the
INIST Research Collection (FRANCIS, PASCAL Biomed, PASCAL SciTech) or the
PASCAL package (PASCAL Biomed, PASCAL Sci Tech). The PASCAL databases
(Biomed and SciTech) provide multidisciplinary and multilingual resourcing with
trilingual indexing which allows keyword searching in French, English or Spanish
regardless of the article's original language. The FRANCIS database provides abstracts
of articles, books and other documents with citation descriptors in both English and
French.
- PASCAL Biomed holds the core of world literature on medicine and life sciences
in more than six million references. It covers more than 6,500 major international
journals, reports, periodical articles, doctoral dissertations and conference
proceedings in all aspects of medical sciences, providing a special emphasis on
European literature.
- PASCAL SciTech is a unique multidisciplinary and multilingual bibliographic
database in science and technology. It covers the major international journals,
reports and conference proceedings.
- The FRANCIS database is a scholarly reference for the humanities and social
sciences. Disciplines covered include art history, literature, psychology,
philosophy, sociology, linguistics, ethnology, geography, archaeology, prehistory,
ethnology, economics and many more. It covers more than 4,000 journals from
1984 to present. The database includes a current file of the past nine to 10 years
of data, with an optional backfile available for an additional one-time fee.
SilverPlatter Discounts
SilverPlatter Information is offering a multiyear discount on CABCD, EconLit and the
Philosopher's Index when two- and three-year subscriptions are purchased. The first
year is full price, but users receive 5 percent off the year-one price in the second year and
10 percent off the year-one price in the third year.
In addition, schools and colleges with full-time enrollment of 3,000 or less will receive a
special discount on EconLit if they sign up by December 31. These smaller institutions
pay $1,735 for up to four users and $2,000 for five or more users.
Effective September 1, the backfile fee for ATLA was reduced to $500. This fee is
payable directly to ATLA.

CIS/Lexis-Nexis Accepting IP Updates Via E-mail
CIS/Lexis-Nexis now allows any library that needs to change or update its IP addresses
to simply submit the changes in an e-mail. Libraries no longer need their account
number to make these changes. Send IP address changes only to
support.cis@lexis-nexis.com. This e-mail address is to be used for changes to IP addresses only. Access
problems should continue to be called into the LEXIS-NEXIS Customer Support group at
(800) 897-3419, and libraries will still need to have their account numbers available.
