The president of the BCR Board of Trustees has appointed Pamela Drayson, director of
library services at Kansas City Kansas Community College and an at-large trustee on the
BCR Board of Trustees, to chair the BCR Nominating Committee for 1999-2000. The
committee is taking nominations to fill one BCR OCLC Users Council delegate position.
The term of James Williams expires in June 2000.
Any BCR OCLC general member may nominate a
candidate to be considered for the OCLC Users Council delegate ballot by submitting the
signature of one official voting representative and written permission of the potential
nominee. Information on the upcoming election and a nominating form are posted on
BCR's Web site at www.bcr.org/~jhillsha/uc/. Nominating forms must be received at BCR's Aurora office prior to January 28, 2000.
The committee also will prepare a slate of candidates for this spring's BCR Board of
Trustees election. BCR member libraries may suggest names of individuals for the
committee to consider for the slate of Board candidates by e-mailing the name to Joyce
Hillshafer at jhillsha@bcr.org. To nominate a write-in candidate for the Board that will
automatically be added to the election slate, send the written permission of the nominee
and signatures of 10 voting BCR members to BCR.
Before the OCLC delegate election, BCR needs to update the register of voting
representatives. The current list is available on the above Web site. A library's official
voting representative for the Users Council election is the only person authorized to sign
nomination petitions and cast the ballot for that institution. The representative who votes
for the OCLC delegate may or may not be the same person designated to vote in BCR's
Board of Trustee election. (The roster of voters for the Board election will be posted on
the Web soon.) Please contact Joyce Hillshafer to make a change in
a library's OCLC Users Council voting representative or print the designation of
representative form from the Web site and fax it to BCR at (303) 751-9787.
A letter has been sent via e-mail to all BCR/OCLC voting representatives informing them
about the upcoming OCLC Users Council delegate election and the procedure to follow
to nominate candidates and to change a library's voting representative.
