BCR is organizing a group purchase of Highwire Press titles. Earlier, BCR solicited
input regarding which titles member libraries would be most interested in
purchasing if we could negotiate a good price. The titles libraries supplied are available
on BCR's Web site at www.bcr.org.
Without a group purchase, a single institution would pay a total of just under $13,000 for
the whole package. BCR hopes to bring that price down significantly. The more
institutions that sign up, the better the discount. So please tell library colleagues about
BCR's Highwire group purchase.
If your library is seriously interested in this package at a price below $13,000, please
indicate that interest by filling out the online form at www.bcr.org/~randd/ hwform.html.
This is not a binding commitment. BCR will obtain price estimates based on the number
of institutions that express an interest in the package. BCR will let libraries know the
final price before asking for a final commitment.
Highwire Press handles only electronic versions of journals. It adds value to the
collection by creating hyperlinks among authors, articles and citations and
by enabling free links from cited references to available bibliographic and scientific
databases. Highwire also links to the full-text of other Highwire journals online,
including ones to which libraries are not subscribed.
Again, BCR is trying to reach as many libraries as possible to bring the price down. If you
