Clear Lake (Iowa) Public Library received $375,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the city's "Books & Beyond" fund-raising campaign.

Gunnison County (Colorado) Public Library celebrated its 60th anniversary this year with a celebration in February.

J. David Martin, head of the Marvin Pomeranz Business Library, University of Iowa, is the first recipient of the university's Arthur Benton Excellence in Reference Services Professional Development Award.

The Forrest C. Lattner Foundation awarded $50,000 to children's services at the Wichita (Kansas) Public Library. The grant is being added to by the National Endowment for Humanities (NEH) with a $16,666 gift.

A 50-ton sculpture, created to provide both visual and tactile sensations, was installed at the entrance to the Utah State Library Division. The State Library partners with the Division of Blind Services in the building.

Davenport (Iowa) Public Library is celebrating its centennial as a tax-supported institution. A subscription library was founded in 1839; in 1900 Andrew Carnegie gave the gift that created the tax-supported public library.
