BCR and NetLibrary Offer Another
Special Discount to Member Libraries
(June 2000 Action for Libraries newsletter)

By Ellen Fox

BCR has finalized a deal with netLibrary regarding local collections of eBooks. Through June 30, BCR is providing discounted access to BCR member libraries wishing to purchase their own individual local collections of netLibrary electronic books. The discounts to member libraries are:

  • 6 percent for purchases up to $99,000
  • 8 percent for purchases between $100,000 and $249,000
  • 11 percent for purchases between $250,000 and $499,000
  • 13 percent for purchases more than $500,000
NetLibrary's usual minimum purchase is 500 books, but for BCR member libraries, the minimum purchase is 300 books. For those libraries participating in the BCR netLibrary group purchase (see www.bcr.org/~randd/netlib.html for details), the minimum purchase is only 100 books.

Netlibrary has put together a number of frequently requested collection sets including Careers, Computer How To, Consumer Health, Consumer Law, General Reference, Study Guides, Travel, Poetry, Nursing, Women's Studies, Library Science and Public Libraries. NetLibrary also has collection development librarians on staff who can put together customized packages for your library or simply provide consultation services.

To purchase a discounted local netlibrary collection, please contact either Ellen Fox at BCR — efox@bcr.org or (303) 751-6277 — or Cindy O'Donnell at netLibrary — codonnell@netlibrary.com or (303) 381-8743 — to discuss your collection development plans. To obtain your discount, just say that you are a BCR member.
