Product Services Menu Discontinued
(March 2000 Action for Libraries newsletter)

By Regan W. Harper

The OCLC Product Services Menu (PSM) will no longer be available effective March 31, 2000. The Product Services Menu was introduced in 1995 to provide menu-based product support information and records and reports for viewing and downloading. In 1997 the Product Services Web was introduced to provide Web-based access. Since the introduction of the Web interface, many products and services such as the ability to download the OCLC Access Suite software have been offered only via the Web. With the end of Multidrop access on March 31, all OCLC users have the ability to use TCP/IP communications and can use the Product Services Web.

After March 31, users attempting to connect to the Product Services Menu will receive the message "Invalid service or terminal type." OCLC software such as Passport for Windows can no longer be used for accessing the PSM. All users must use a browser and access the Product Services Web at psw.oclc.org/psw.
