BCR Launches Free Trial and
Group Purchase of Books24x7

By Ellen Fox

BCR is excited to announce a free trial and group purchase of the Books24x7 subscription service.

Books24x7.com's IT Pro Library Collection is an individualized, professional information service that gives libraries access to one of the Web's best technical reference libraries. Since this is a subscription-based service, you will benefit, at no additional cost, from using new content that Books24x7 adds to the service during the subscription year. Also, you can lease access to as many simultaneous users as your community may need.

Books24x7's patent-pending search engine aids users in drilling down into the content to find the most relevant information. You'll find full electronic versions of 700-plus top technical books and journals, all fully searchable. More than 90 different topics are covered, including programming, graphic design and Web development.

The collection contains the full content from the world's top publishers such as MIT Press, O'Reilly, Osborne/McGraw-Hill, Que, Sams, Sybex and Wiley. The content is hand picked. Books24x7's editorial board of technical writers and authors prepares a brief summary plus a more detailed synopsis to help users select the most relevant content.

New titles are constantly being added to the collection, and the number of titles will double by early 2001. Publication coverage spans primarily 1997 to the present with more than 60 percent of the collection copyrighted in 1999 and 2000. End users can utilize the collection to find instant answers to time-sensitive problems and issues, brush up on a topic, learn more about a new technology and view the entire contents of a printed book prior to purchasing it to ensure it contains the right information.

BCR's free trial runs through November 30. Final pricing has yet to be determined. We will be announcing the terms of the purchase in mid-November.
