Sara F. Jones has been named the new administrator of the Nevada State Library and Archives. Jones, former director of the Elko-Lander-Eureka County Library System and past president of the Nevada Library Association, assumed her new duties in March. As the new Nevada State Librarian, Jones is now a member of the BCR Board of Trustees.

Davenport (Iowa) Public Library</a> celebrated its centennial anniversary last November. Kay Runge, DPL director and president of the Public Library Association, was named Member of the Year by the Iowa Library Association.

Hawaii State Public Library System benefitted to the tune of $57,000, raised by Hawaii Library Foundation at its Annual Links to Literacy Golf Tournament.

Betty Bengston, retiring director of libraries at the University of Washington, was appointed a member of the National Council on the Humanities by former President Bill Clinton. She also has been named special advisory to the president for academic library services at OCLC.

Shirley George, director of the Beaverton City (Oregon) Library and former state librarian of Iowa and assistant state librarian of Oregon, retired December 31.

Morgan Library, Colorado State University, has implemented a wireless LAN so students with laptop computers can access online resources from most locations in the five-story building.

Mary Barker, Lebo Branch Library, and Mona Carmack, Johnson County Library and chair of the Kansas Library Network Board, were appointed to the KAN-ED task force.

Rick Forsman, Denison Memorial Library, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, is the president-elect of the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries.

Paul Morgan, University of Utah, Marriott Library, received the Genealogical Publishing Company/History Section Award from the RUSA division of ALA.

Max Peterson, Utah State University Libraries, was presented the Distinguished Service Award by the Utah Library Association.

Christie Reimschussell, American Fork Library (Utah) was named Librarian of the Year by the Utah Library Association.

Vikki Jo Stewart, Kansas State Library, was elected to a second term as chair of the National Board of Directors of Literacy Volunteers of America.

Brian Green, Wyoming State Library, will be the new chair of the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies Web Task Force.
