BCR Offers OCLC FirstSearch Online Course

BCR is offering a new Web-based workshop, "FirstSearch: Administering Your Account." This half-day workshop introduces library staff to the OCLC FirstSearch service's administrative module, which implements policy decisions regarding a library's FirstSearch account.

Participants learn how to navigate the module, manage passwords, set global account options, integrate FirstSearch with a library's local system and customize ILL forms. Cost is $45 for BCR/OCLC users and $55 for non-BCR/OCLC users. For more information about the online workshop, go to BCR's Web site: www.bcr.org/workshop/web-based.html.

Register at www.bcr.org/workshops/register.html. Registration is accepted the first three weeks of each month, and the workshop must be completed during that period. After registering, participants receive a user name and password that provide access to the workshop for the current month. At the end of each workshop, participants complete a short online quiz and evaluation form. BCR issues training completion certificates when the quiz and evaluation are returned to BCR.
