New BCR Six-month Workshop
Schedule Now in the Mail
When you receive the latest edition of BCR's Workshop Schedule, you'll find something
different. BCR's former nine-month schedule is now being published and distributed
twice annually to coincide with the academic year. The new catalog contains abbreviated
descriptions for BCR training sessions set up for September 2001 through February 2002.
You will find detailed workshop descriptions on BCR's Web site at
www.bcr.org/workshop/index.html.
BCR will publish a new schedule of classes in
March 2002 that includes workshops through August 2002.
We anticipate this regular six-month time frame will open up more scheduling options
for BCR workshops and make it easier for you to plan your staff development time. The
shorter interval between calendars also should help BCR trainers respond more readily to
your requests and needs.
The new Workshop Schedule provides the same high caliber of classes for you to choose
from. In addition, you will find a number of new workshops offered. Please check out
the descriptions for these new classes, which are designed to help you keep your skills up
to date in the constantly evolving field of information technology. The new workshops,
some presented online and some in BCR's classrooms, are:
- Exploring Metadata
- OCLC FirstSearch Service: Administering Your Account
- Serial Holdings Workshop
- Web-based Business Resources
BCR also is hosting a new series of workshops to be presented by Dialog trainers. These
10 classes will cover everything from basic searching techniques to patent research.
BCR mailed the new Workshop Schedule to member
libraries the first week in August, so you should receive your copy soon. Please share it
with your colleagues. If you don't receive an individual copy, check with your library
director or look at the schedule on BCR's Web site.
