Brenda Bailey-Hainer, director of Networking and Resource Sharing for the Colorado State Library and a member of the BCR Board of Trustees, was named Librarian of the Year by the Colorado Library Association.

Gardner Hanks, head of Continuing Education at the Idaho State Library, was named Idaho Librarian of the Year by the Idaho Library Association.

Oregon State Librarian Jim Scheppke was named to the Library of Congress' digital long-term planning group to assist in planning the transition from analog to digital talking books. Scheppke is a member of the BCR Board of Trustees.

The Oregon Library Association named Connie J. Bennett, Eugene Public Library, Librarian of the Year.

The Utah Library Association awarded Sterling Albrecht, Brigham Young University, the ULA Distinguished Service Award and Peggy Erickson, Tooele City Public Library, ULA Librarian of the Year.

Mary Bushing, Montana State University, received the Sheila Cates Award for Librarian of the Year.
