LAMA Institute Coming in March

BCR is teaming with the Central Colorado Library System (CCLS) and Jefferson County Public Library to bring the Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) Regional Institute to the Denver area. The program, "Integrating Learning with Work: Designing the 21st Century Learning Library," will be presented March 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Belmar conference room at the new Belmar Library, 555 S. Allison Parkway, in the Lakewood City Commons. The institute is open to both BCR and CCLS members and costs $125. Lunch is included.

Julie Beth Todaro, head librarian of the Rio Grande Campus of Austin (Texas) Community College, will speak about her vision for the library as a learning organization and offer practical instruction in how to achieve this goal in participants' own institutions. Through a combination of lecture, discussion, self-analysis and small group work, those attending will focus on creating the ideal learning environment.

The program is geared toward library administrators, managers, staff development officers, human resources personnel and those with an interest in staff training and development in all types and sizes of libraries. For a detailed agenda go to www.ala.org/lama/events/institutes/training.html.

Participants should register through BCR's workshop registration form at www.bcr.org/workshop/wkshp-gud.html. Space is limited, so register soon. For more information, contact Ellen Fox (efox@bcr.org).
