On-site Workshop a Practical Training Solution from BCR
By Mike Wright What can you do when you need audio-visual format training in Butte, scores training in Cedar City or interlibrary loan training in Wichita? You might want to consider arranging for a BCR on-site workshop. For an on-site workshop, a library contracts directly with BCR to hold a particular workshop or series of workshops for its staff. If there aren't many staff members who need the training, the library can choose to open the workshop to other institutions in the area. By splitting the costs of the workshop among a number of libraries, the cost per trainee can be brought down dramatically. Depending on several factors, there are some situations where the cost can even end up being less than for a regular BCR workshop. If this solution might work for you, contact Rosario Garza (rgarza@bcr.org) for more information. Note, too, that BCR is offering more workshops than ever via the Web. A listing of distance learning course offerings can be found on BCR's Web page at www.bcr.org/workshop/web-based.html or take a look at the new BCR Workshop Schedule, which was recently mailed to our members.
