New CD-ROM Packaging Service ExploredBy Laura Chittivej BCR's tentative plan will offer libraries a choice of ordering CD-ROMs, as they normally would from the title list or adding "Crimson CD-ROM Processing" to the order. Pricing for Crimson CD-ROM Processing is not set at this time. Each box will have a scanned four-color, high-resolution image of the retail box art on the outer wrapper. It can be customized with a library's address, hours of operation, overdue fees and any special information (including Copyright Title 17, title platform, software system requirements, etc.). Libraries can even add a custom logo, magnetic security strips, Tattle Tape or special stickers. A minimum of 20 titles is required for the addition of a custom library logo. Crimson Multimedia Distribution, a distributor of multimedia CD-ROM software for the public library and school market, provides Crimson CD-ROM Processing. The service often can save time and money and provides consistency to a library's circulating CD- ROM collection. To obtain a free sample from Crimson Multimedia Distribution, please go to www.bcr.org/~ids/CD-ROM/crimson-request-form.html. Plan ahead and place your name on the CD-ROM Group Purchase mailing list by contacting BCR's Laura Chittivej at (303) 751-6277, (800) 397-1552 or by e-mail at lchittiv@bcr.org.
