Renew, Sign Up for BCR's Books24x7
Annual Subscription in December
By Ellen Fox
The BCR consortial purchase for Books24x7 will be coming up for renewal in
December. New subscribers will be able to join and currently participating members will
have the opportunity to renew.
Books24x7 is a Web-based e-book service focusing on computer and technical titles.
There are close to 1,800 titles available on site. Publishing partners include MIT Press,
Osborne/McGraw-Hill, Que, Sams, Sybex and Wiley. The book contents allow for easy
searching so you can pinpoint specific information fast. Search result indicators guide
you directly to the most relevant books, chapters, sections and subsections. Search
options include title, author, ISBN or publisher, in addition to keyword.
Books24x7.com
consistently presents the graphics, layout and look and feel of the complete contents of
each book. Book contents are displayed a section at a time to minimize download times.
This year, the terms of the BCR group subscription are changing. All pricing is by
simultaneous user rather than by FTE. Complete pricing is available at:
www.bcr.org/~randd/books24x7/books24x7academic.html. This
simultaneous-user
pricing applies to both public libraries and academic libraries. Please note that
Books24x7 uses an annual subscription model rather than a permanent, one-time
purchase model. For more information, contact BCR's Ellen Fox at efox@bcr.org.
