Heritage Is New Digital Gateway
to Colorado Culture and History
Heritage, the gateway to the Colorado Digitization Projects (CDP), is now open for
business at the CDP Web site:
coloradodigital.coalliance.org. Heritage is an online
database that makes the state's archives, historical societies, libraries and museums
available in digital format. Users can access photos, textual materials, artifacts,
costumes, diaries, oral history transcripts, manuscripts and other materials on Colorado's
cultural, scientific and historical heritage.
Heritage uses OCLC SiteSearch software and is one of the first databases in the country
to incorporate metadata from a wide range of types of libraries, museums, archives and
historical societies into one Dublin Core based system, according to Liz Bishoff, CDP
director. Links are made to images residing on local institution servers. Users can create
records online using the DC Builder software developed by the CDP staff or by sending
files from local library systems, local museum databases, etc.
Heritage is also accessible via the Colorado Virtual Library,
www.aclin.org, under
"Colorado Resources by Group" and "Digital Collections in Colorado."
