OCLC Announces CatExpress/ILL Combination Pricing

With the introduction of the Web interface to OCLC's ILL service, OCLC and BCR are now offering CatExpress libraries a combination CatExpress/ILL pricing option. This new pricing model allows CatExpress libraries to use the Web interface to OCLC's ILL service at an affordable cost. Pricing is based on the total number of titles a library expects to catalog in a year plus the number of ILL requests the library expects to send out using OCLC in a year.

Here are some points to consider if you are considering the CatExpress/ILL pricing combination:

  • These charges include access fees. Users will not be billed separately for connect time.


  • Libraries that exceed their ILL volume activity will be assessed an overage charge of $3.50 for each request over the amount they signed up for at the end of the subscription year. For example, a library that signed up for ILL requests at the 1- 50 level will be charged $3.50 for each request over the 50.


  • No credits will be given for net lenders or unused portions of CatExpress or ILL subscriptions.


  • Libraries using this pricing option will be subject to the 4-to-1 Search-to-Produce ratio. For every ILL request sent out using OCLC, the library will be allowed up to four searches. Searches over the 4-to-1 ratio will be billed at $.75 per search at the end of the subscription year.


  • Libraries with an anticipated ILL activity on OCLC that exceeds 150 ILL requests per year are not eligible for this combination pricing.
