British Library Document Supply Centre Now
Accepts Payment Via OCLC IFM Service
By Rosario Garza
The British Library Document Supply Centre (BLDSC) has begun accepting payment for
orders through OCLC's ILL Fee Management (IFM) service. The IFM service allows
users of the OCLC ILL service to pay, and be paid for, ILL lending charges through their
BCR/OCLC services invoices. ILL Fee Management works if:
- Both borrower and lender have entered valid
ILL Fee Management statements.
- The LENDING CHARGES amount does not
exceed the MAXCOST amount.
- The status of the request is updated to RECEIVED by the borrower.
BCR has an agreement with the BLDSC that gives BCR libraries a 5 percent discount on
their BLDSC- supplied documents (excluding copyright fees). However, if you use IFM
to pay for your BLDSC documents, BLDSC policy does not allow you to receive the
BCR discount on your BLDSC orders. If you continue to pay via the existing BCR
arrangement, you will continue to get the 5 percent discount off all items on your BLDSC
invoice except copyright fees.
An introductory offer of $10.50 per article will help offset the IFM charge. The discount
may be made permanent if the IFM payment option proves popular.
If you have questions about the BLDSC service, contact BCR's Ann Schwab
(aschwab@bcr.org).
