Nancy Bolt, assistant commissioner for libraries, Colorado Department of Education, is a recipient of the Intellectual Freedom Award from the Colorado Educational Media Association and SIRS Publishing, Inc.

The Wyoming Library Association named Amy Shelley, Laramie County Library System, 2001 Librarian of the Year.

Arlene Ching, Mililani Public Library, was chosen as the 2001 Public Librarian of the Year by the Hawaii Library Foundation.
