Wilson Discounts Announced
H.W. Wilson is offering discounts on two of its databases. Orders for Readers' Guide Retrospective are being discounted 10 percent, and new or upgrade orders for Biography Reference Bank are available at a 20 percent discount. Orders must be placed by October 31. Libraries that order the databases through BCR obtain an additional 3 percent discount on each database.

Readers Guide Retrospective provides searchable access to more than 100 years of citations from 512 leading U.S. magazines. The database currently covers 1969 through 1982. Coverage of 1890 through 1982 will be released this fall.

Biography Reference Bank contains more than 308,000 names with links to every article focused on any individual in every WilsonWeb database. The database was selected by Library Journal as one of the Best Reference Sources for 2001 and honored by Reference Books Bulletin as one of the Top Ten Biography Reference Sources for 2001.

Grove Upgrades Grovemusic.com
Grove's Dictionaries has added more content and functionality to its latest update of grovemusic.com. Among the enhancements:

  • Seven appendices from volume 28 of The New Dictionary of Music and Musicians have been added.

  • The explore feature, which allows users to navigate through certain areas of grovemusic.com without searching for a specific article, has been expanded. A new Explore Research Resources subsection makes all major articles relating to music scholarship or music institutions available in a single location. Divided into print and manuscript sources and institutions, all relevant articles are listed with a short description, plus live links to the article and its lists.

  • Searching has been improved. Exact headword matches now get top priority with New Grove II articles listed before Grove Opera articles and cross-references. An article search link also has been added that provides the ability to search terms within a single article.

  • Diacritical marks now appear in all articles.

NetLibrary Enhances E-book Summary The table of contents in netLibrary's e-books are now available from each e-book Summary page. The new feature allows library patrons to scan the contents of checked out e-books. Library staff also can evaluate e-book content by viewing the complete table of contents for any netLibrary e-book from TitleSelect or TitleDirect.
