BCR New netLibrary Ready Reference
Collection Activated, CliffsNotes Added
By Laura Chittivej
Group participants in the BCR netLibrary Ready Reference Collection (formerly known
as BCR's netLibrary Public Library Collection) may now access more than 3,600 titles of
this electronic book collection at www.netlibrary.com.
The BCR Ready Reference Collection provides participating libraries with ongoing
access to netLibrary e-books at an affordable cost. (Less than 2 percent of the direct
costs in some cases.) Access fees are included in the cost. Participating libraries pay
only once; this is not a subscription.
As an added value for BCR Ready Reference group members, BCR, netLibrary and John
Wiley & Sons are pleased to announce that more than 400 CliffsNotes included in the
collection are now available with four simultaneous-user access privileges.
In addition to the simultaneous-user access for Cliffs- Notes publications, Ready
Reference participants may order the OCLC WorldCat Collection set of the bibliographic
records at no additional charge. A $0.28 per record charge is assessed if any
modifications are made to the set. As part of the ongoing cross-product branding
between OCLC and netLibrary, three stand-alone WorldCat Collection sets are planned
for the Cliffs- Notes Collections. More details will be announced as the sets become
available.
Libraries not currently participating in the BCR Ready Reference Collection are
encouraged to join. Pricing for public libraries is based on the population served. Library
systems and districts may buy in as a whole, or individual branches may purchase based
on their respective populations served.
A public library serving a population of up to 10,000 pays a one-time fee of $700. A
public library serving more than 400,000 pays $25,000. Schools with 500 FTEs may
access the collection for $500 and pay no more than $5,275 for more than 2,501 FTEs.
Academic participants with 2,500 FTEs pay $2,700 and no more than $18,000 for more
than 20,001 FTEs.
Detailed pricing, the collection title list and participation form for the BCR Ready
Reference Collection are available at www.bcr.org;
select Reference Databases and then
netLibrary. State libraries and consortia require individual quotations. Please contact
BCR's Laura Chittivej at lchittiv@bcr.org for a quote.
