Free Upgrade to Ariel 3.3 Available
The newest version of Ariel software, version 3.3, can now be downloaded free by users of Ariel 3.0. The new Ariel 3.3 provides improved stability and functionality, including significant enhancements to Patron Delivery options and expanded Help files that describe the enhancements and provide direct links to user support pages on the Web. Version 3.3 resolves issues related to processing SMTP Delivery Status Notifications (DSN), inconsistencies with document printing and printer selection that caused random crashing and a TWAIN dithering problem.

Additional Ariel 3.3 features include:

  • A firewall compatibility setting that gives firewall administrators the option to limit the number of open ports strictly to ones registered to Ariel.
  • Expanded copyright statement capabilities.
  • Automatic removal of corrupt IP addresses.
  • Interaction with Minolta PS 3000 and Minolta PS 7000 with TWAIN driver support.
  • Support for the XP Professional operating system.

To upgrade to version 3.3, determine whether a full or receive version of 3.0 is installed on your Ariel workstation. If you're uncertain which copy you have, in the Ariel directory right-click on Winariel.exe, and then go to Properties and Version. The last two digits will be "98" for receive or "99" for full. (This information is for warranty and technical support verification reasons only and will not be shared with any third party.)

To receive the upgrade package, go to www.rlg.org/ariel/ and follow the link to Free upgrade to version 3.3 for all version 3 users. At the bottom of the page click on Register now for the version 3.3 upgrade. Register with RLG and review the Ariel Software License Agreement. Accepting the license agreement takes you to the download page with step-by-step instructions for installing the upgrade.
