Nominations Now Being Accepted
for OCLC Members Council Delegate
By Joyce Hillshafer
The president of the BCR Board of Trustees has appointed James Godsey, director of the
Council Bluffs (Iowa) Public Library and a member of the BCR Board of Trustees, to
chair the BCR Nominating Committee for 2002. Others are being appointed to the five-
member committee from the BCR member states of Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii and Idaho.
According to newly revised Board policy, nonboard members are appointed to the
Nominating Committee each year from four of BCR's 12 member states assigned
alphabetically on a rotating basis.
Nominations for the single opening for the BCR OCLC Members Council delegate
election are being accepted until January 25. Any BCR/OCLC general member may
nominate a candidate for the committee's consideration for the delegate slate by
submitting a petition with the signature of one official voting representative and the
written permission of the potential nominee. The petition form is available at
www.bcr.org/~jhillsha/mc/nomform.html.
You may fax the petition to BCR at (303) 751-9787.
The nominating committee also will develop a slate of candidates for the spring trustee
election. Suggestions are being accepted for the four positions open on the BCR Board
of Trustees, those of Patti Bateman, at-large trustee; James Godsey, public libraries
trustee; Richard Doyle, academic libraries trustee; and Sandy Barstow, research libraries
trustee.
Contact BCR's Joyce Hillshafer (jhillsha@bcr.org) if you would like to volunteer for
consideration for the Board of Trustees slate. She will pass the information on to the
nominating committee.
BCR members also may nominate a write-in candidate for the BCR Board who will
automatically be added to the election slate. Send the written permission of the nominee
plus signatures of 10 voting BCR members to BCR. Contact Hillshafer for a write-in
nomination form, which may be faxed to (303) 751-9787.
