From the President of the Board....
BCR membership has increased dramatically with the addition of the five new member states Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The net- work now serves libraries from the Mississippi River to the middle of the Pacific. To expand from seven member states to 12 is no small feat, but I am happy to report that the dedicated professional staff have risen to the challenge. They have continued the excellent level of service to the libraries of the original member states while adding new member libraries in the expanded service area. In fact, use of BCR services by member libraries across the three service divisions — Bibliographic Systems & Services, Internet & Database Services and Research & Development — has increased dramatically throughout the entire 12-state region. As a member network, it is important for BCR to be responsive to the economic pressures on each of its members. To that end, the Board of Trustees was pleased to follow the recommendations of the BCR professional staff and unanimously voted to reduce the costs of selected services. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank you for your commitment to and working relationship with BCR. Your participation and use of services are keys to the success of the network. On a personal note, it has been a privilege and a rewarding experience to serve as president of the Board. Again, as a member network, I thank you all for the opportunity. Best wishes from the Board of Trustees,
