Marilyn Mercado, an at-large member on the BCR Board of Trustees, has been named dean of library services at the University of Northern Iowa. She was interim dean.

Kay Carlson, Wyoming State Law Library librarian and former member of the BCR Board of Trustees, was presented with the Excellent Service Award by the Wyoming Chief Justice.

The new Langlois (Oregon) Public Library opened in March. A formal dedication was scheduled in mid-August.

In Idaho, Karen Ross is the new branch supervisor at the Troy Branch of the Latah County Libraries, and Judy Zimmer is the new director at the Bellevue Public Library.

A Company of the Year award was given to the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District by the Technology Business Alliance of Nevada.

Paul Holland has been named executive director of the Sweetwater County (Wyoming) Library System.
