BCR Launches New Wilson Full-text
Free Trial and Group Subscription

H.W. Wilson and BCR are collaborating to make a free trial of Wilson databases available to all BCR libraries. If you wish to participate, enroll at BCR's Web site, www.bcr.org. From BCR's home page, click on Reference Databases, then H.W. Wilson. The trial can be managed by password access or IP number filtering. Try it now by registering for a free trial at www.bcr.org/~ids/Reference/Wilson/Wilsontrial.html.

The October 1 to November 30 trial offers significant discounts on 13-month subscriptions starting December 1, 2002 (first year only) and running through December 31, 2003. Pricing for these databases is very low compared to retail prices. Pricing information and a Web order form are available on BCR's Web site. Orders may be placed at any time during the trial. Try to order before November 15 to ensure continuity of access for your library.

BCR's trial includes the following databases, each of which may be purchased separately:

• Applied Science & Technology Full Text This database covers 562 trade and industrial publications, journals issued by professional and technical societies and specialized subject periodicals, as well as special issues such as buyers' guides, directories and conference proceedings. Abstracting begins in March 1983. Full-text coverage for 108 publications begins in 1997. The database is updated four times per week on WilsonWeb.
• Education Full Text Abstracts English-language periodicals and yearbooks from more than 527 publications and provides full-text articles and page images from 235. Books related to education pub- lished in 1995 or later are also cited. Abstracting begins with January 1983, and full-text coverage begins in January 1996. It is updated four times per week on WilsonWeb. Coverage includes 95 journals not covered by ERIC's CIJE.
• Readers' Guide Abstracts Full-text Mega Edition Provides abstracts and bibliographic indexing of 305 journals as far back as 1983, as well as full text from 160 journals as far back as 1994. ASCII full text and PDF images are included. It is updated four times per week on WilsonWeb.
• Wilson Biographies Plus Illustrated More than 100,000 biographies and obituaries and more than 32,000 photographs of the subjects are included. Users can search by name, place of origin, gender, dates, ethnicity and key words. The database grows by up to 1,000 profiles per year at no additional cost.
• Short Story Index This database provides access points via author, title and subject for stories from collections as well as author and title access for stories from periodicals. Subject access in the Short Story Index includes theme, locale, narrative technique or device (such as surprise endings, dialect stories, parodies) and genre. The database includes more than 76,500 stories plus the full text of 1,662 stories. Coverage dates back to 1984 and will grow by an estimated 4,500 records each year.
• Essay and General Literature Index This database delivers information on some 65,000 essays from 5,317 collections. It focuses on the humanities and social sciences, with subject coverage ranging from economics, political science and history to criticism of literary works, drama and film. Users can search by keyword, subject, title, author or date of publication.
