Price Freeze and New Offerings
Highlight BCR Britannica Subscription

By Laura Chittivej

To help current subscribers and new users stretch their budget dollars for the upcoming fiscal year, BCR and Britannica are freezing prices for Britannica Online and Britannica Online School Edition at current levels and lowering prices on Webster's Third New International Dictionary Unabridged Online and Annals of American History Online.

Britannica also is launching Enciclopedia Universal en Español, a Spanish-language encyclopedia, and World Data Analyst Online, for the 2003-2004 subscription year. Libraries may choose to purchase access to the titles as part of a Britannica subscription or as stand-alone products.

Enciclopedia Universal en Español contains more than 47,000 articles, 8,300 photos and images and more than 390 maps and 500 tables. It is a valuable reference and research tool for native Spanish speakers, bilingual students and students learning Spanish. Among its key features are articles with cross-reference links and a World Atlas with a graphic interface to an index of countries, maps, statistics and to major world cities.

World Data Analyst Online is a powerful, easy-to-use online tool that lets users compare data among countries and regions at a glance. It offers detailed statistical comparisons of countries across the world, using both the most recent statistics and historical figures. Plus World Data Analyst Online allows subscribers to create table and charts and export the information to a spreadsheet for printing and data crunching.

BCR's subscription year for Britannica products is June 1 through May 31. During April and May, both current users and new subscribers who purchase Enciclopedia Universal en Español or World Data Analyst Online will receive free access until the official start of the subscription on June 1.

If your library is already a Britannica Online subscriber, either directly or through a group, you may move your contract to the BCR group subscription. Your library will receive a prorated credit on the unused portion of your existing agreement towards your participation in the BCR contract.
