Candidates Named for BCR Elections

The BCR Nominating Committee 2003 has developed slates of candidates for both the BCR Board of Trustees and OCLC Members Council delegate elections this spring. The BCR Board of Trustees adopted both slates at its February meeting. Three candidates are competing for the single position open in the BCR OCLC Members Council delegate election. Eleven candidates are running for five seats in the BCR Board of Trustees election.

Information about the BCR OCLC Members Council delegate election can be found on BCR's Web site at www.bcr.org/about/mc/. Libraries' designated voters began casting their ballots via the Web on March 10. The deadline for voting is April 21.

The single delegate seat will be filled by one of the following candidates:

Maggie Farrell, University of Wyoming (incumbent)
Chris Painter, Bud Werner Memorial Library, Steamboat Springs (Colorado)
Virginia Lowell, Hawaii State Public Library System

Information about the BCR Board of Trustees election is found on the Web site at www.about/board/. Voting began April 2, and the deadline for Board of Trustees ballots is May 5. Seats on the Board of Trustees are up for election for each of the following categories:

School Libraries and Processing Centers Trustee
Larry Wieland, Jefferson County (Colorado) Public Schools (incumbent)
Teresa Garrison, Kansas City (Kansas) Public Library

Public Libraries Trustee (a one-year term)
David Ellefson, Elko (Nevada) Public Library
Karen Frank, Anchorage (Alaska) Municipal Library

Special Libraries Trustee
David Muhlena, National Czech/Slovak Museum and Library (Iowa)
Melissa Nicoud, National Museum of Wildlife Art (Wyoming)

At-large Trustees (two positions)
      Cynthia Berner Harris, Wichita (Kansas) Public Library (incumbent)
      Sandra Barstow, University of Wyoming
      John Pollitz, St. Ambrose University (Iowa)
      Patricia Cutright, Eastern Oregon University
      Denise Carson, Bethany College (Kansas)
