OCLC ILL Policies Directory Released

The OCLC ILL Library Policies and Technology Directory is now available for use. BCR encourages OCLC ILL users to begin entering policies, contacts and site information.

To access the new Policies Directory:

Log on to the OCLC ILL Web interface at illweb.oclc.org/. If you don't know your authorization and password and you receive your OCLC services from BCR, contact BCR's Ann Schwab at aschwab@bcr.org. If you receive your OCLC services from OCLC Western, contact OCLC Western directly for your authorization and password.
Click the Policies Directory link located in the black header bar.

The Policies Directory cannot be accessed from Passport. OCLC ILLiad users have direct access to the Policies Directory with recently released version 6.2 of ILLiad.

The Policies Directory will replace the Name-Address Directory (NAD) for ILL use only in approximately six months. ILL policies fields in the NAD will be retired in the third quarter of 2003. No information will be migrated from the NAD to the Policies Directory. Here are some ILL Policies Directory tips:

Web Browsers: OCLC strongly recommends the use of the most recently released version of Internet Explorer (IE). IE 5.0, 5.01, 5.5 and 6.0 are supported, as well as Netscape 6.1, 6.2 and 7.0. More information about optimum configuration for accessing the OCLC ILL Web interface can be found at www.oclc.org/oclc/ill/optimumrequirements.shtm.
Sample Records: OCLC has created sample records under the following symbols: OZY, TRN and OCL. Review these records to get a feel for the new system.
Searching: For more accurate results when searching by OCLC symbol in the Basic Search, add quotation marks around the symbol. For example, to retrieve the sample record for OZY, type "OZY" in the Search for Name or Symbol box.
Passport Users: To minimize your connect-time charges, once you've logged onto the OCLC ILL Web interface and opened the Policies Directory window from the welcome screen, go back to the welcome screen and click Exit located in the black header bar. This will leave the Policies Directory window open, but disconnect you from the OCLC ILL Web interface, and you will not incur connect-time charges.
