September 2003 Workshop Schedule
Published; New Classes Available

Staff at BCR member libraries will find a bounty of new classes, as well as BCR's standard offerings, to choose from in the just-published September 2003-February 2004 edition of the BCR Workshop Schedule.

The new edition, which lists the next six months of BCR training sessions, is being mailed to directors of BCR member libraries in early August. The catalog contains abbreviated descriptions for each BCR class. You will find more detailed descriptions on BCR's Web site at www.bcr.org/workshop/wkshops.html.

BCR's trainers, all professional librarians, have added 14 new workshops to the schedule this session, including one new Web-based, online class, "Designing Usable Web Sites." The remaining new workshops are offered as regular classroom sessions. They are:

Adding Original Records to OCLC WorldCat
Cataloging Using the New OCLC Connexion Client Interface
Creating Web-based Training for New Patrons
    Map Cataloging: The Basics
    OCLC ILL Policies Directory Overview
    OCLC QuestionPoint Service Overview
    SCCTP Integrating Resources Cataloging
Tips: Increase Your OCLC Cataloging and ILL Efficiency
    Tips: OCLC Telecommunications Self-analysis
Tips: Using Your OCLC Statistics and Reports to Reduce Costs and Improve Efficiency
    Using OCLC Authorities Effectively
    XML: An Introduction

The workshops to be presented in the Gates training in Wyoming are also included in the new Workshop Schedule. (See Gates Training article.)

Please share this Workshop Schedule booklet with your colleagues. If you don't receive an individual copy, check with your library director or look at the schedule on BCR's Web site, BCR Online, which has class information available in both HTML and PDF formats.

If you would like to attend a workshop not scheduled in your area, consider hosting a workshop. Check BCR's Web site (www.bcr.org/workshops/wkshops.html) for opportunities available for bringing a BCR trainer to your state or institution.

BCR will publish the next Workshop Schedule in March 2004.
