Nominate Candidates
for Spring BCR Elections
By Joyce Hillshafer
BCR Board President Lesley Boughton will soon appoint a nominating committee to develop the official election slates for this spring's BCR OCLC Members Council delegate and BCR Board of Trustees elections. This committee will present the slates to the BCR Board at its February 13, 2004, meeting. This year the committee includes members from the states of Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, but candidates from any of BCR's member states can be considered for the election slates.
OCLC Members Council Election
Official voting representatives of BCR/OCLC libraries in December
will receive an e-mail message with election information. Any BCR/OCLC
general member may nominate a candidate for the committee's consideration
for BCR's OCLC Members Council delegate position by submitting the signature
of one official voting representative and the written permission of the potential nominee.
The delegate position currently held by Rich Doyle is opening this year.
Petitions to nominate candidates must be received at BCR's Aurora office
no later than Friday, January 23, 2004. You may find the petition form on at
www.bcr.org/about/mc/mcelect.html
and can fax the signed form to BCR at (303) 751-9787.
BCR Board of Trustees Election
The nominating committee also will develop a slate of candidates for
the spring trustee election. Contact BCR's Joyce Hillshafer
(jhillsha@bcr.org)
if you would like to volunteer for consideration for the Board of Trustees slate.
She will pass the information on to the nominating committee. The election this
year will include the public libraries trustee, academic libraries trustee, r
esearch libraries trustee and at-large trustee positions on the Board.
Information about the BCR Board election can be found at
www.bcr.org/about/board/botelect.html.
Any 10 BCR members also may nominate a write-in candidate for the BCR Board.
To automatically add the nomination to the election slate, send the written
permission of the nominee and the signatures of 10 voting BCR members to BCR.
Contact Hillshafer at jhillsha@bcr.org
for a write-in nomination form. Once completed, nomination forms may also be
faxed to (303) 751-9787.
