BCR Nominating Committee Appointed

The BCR Nominating Committee for 2003 will be chaired by Virginia Lowell, state librarian, Hawaii State Public Library System. Lowell is joined by Richard Doyle, Coe College, Stewart Memorial Library (Iowa); Darlene Staffeldt, Montana State Library; Phyllis Sargent, Nevada State Library and Archives; and Sharon Sharpe, library/media coordinator, USD #475 Geary County Schools (Kansas).

Nominations for the single BCR delegate seat open on the OCLC Users Council, now held by Maggie Farrell, were due to the committee by January 24. The nominating committee also is developing a slate of candidates for the spring trustee election. The five positions open are those of Patti Bateman, public libraries trustee (a one-year term); Larry Wieland, school libraries and processing centers trustee; Frances Clymer, special libraries trustee; and Marilyn Mercado and Cynthia Berner Harris, at-large trustees. The last four positions are for two years.

The Nominating Committee will present its proposed slate of candidates for both BCR elections at the February 21 meeting of the BCR Board of Trustees for the Board's approval.
