Spring Database Trials Announced

By Ellen Fox

BCR is pleased to announce new database free trials for spring. BCR staff reviewed several database proposals from various vendors and chose the following database services to be made available to BCR member libraries for trial and discounted group purchase:

  • Facts.com: Over 60 years of Facts on File World News Digest, updated weekly and including a live Reuter's newsfeed.

  • SIRS: Includes SIRS Researcher, SIRS Government Reporter, SIRS Renaissance, SKS WebSelect (formerly SIRS NetSelect), SIRS Discoverer and Discoverer Webfind.

  • Alexander Street Press: A unique collection of databases in the humanities and social services.

  • HeritageQuest: (for public libraries only) A collection of research materials for tracing family lineage and American culture.

  • LiON: A full-text resource for English and American Literature that gives researchers access to more than 346,000 primary works of poetry, drama and fiction.

Descriptions of each of the databases can reached by clicking on the links on the trial sign-up form: www.bcr.org/~randd/trial03/Trial_form.html.

The free trials last through the end of February. Pricing will be available later, and all databases will be offered below list price.
