Nominations Now Being Accepted
for BCR Spring Election Slates
By Joyce Hillshafer
Lesley Boughton, president of the BCR Board of Trustees, has appointed Virginia
Lowell, state librarian of the Hawaii State Public Library System and a member of the
BCR Board of Trustees, to chair the BCR Nominating Committee for 2003. Other
members of the five-member committee will be appointed soon.
Nominations for the single opening for BCR OCLC Members Council delegate, now
held by Maggie Farrell, will be accepted until January 24. Any BCR/OCLC general
member may nominate a candidate for the committee's consideration for the delegate
slate by submitting a petition with the signature of one official voting representative and
the written permission of the potential nominee. The petition form is available at
www.bcr.org/about/mc/. You may fax the petition to BCR at (303)
751-9787.
The nominating committee also will develop a slate of candidates for the spring trustee
election. Suggestions are being accepted for the five positions open on the BCR Board of
Trustees, those of Larry Wieland, school libraries and processing centers trustee; Patti
Bateman, public libraries trustee; Frances Clymer, special libraries trustee; and Marilyn
Mercado and Cynthia Berner Harris, at-large trustees.
Contact BCR's Joyce Hillshafer (jhillsha@bcr.org) if you would like to volunteer for
consideration for the Board of Trustees slate. She will pass the information on to the
nominating committee.
BCR members also may nominate a write-in candidate for the BCR Board who will
automatically be added to the election slate. Send the written permission of the nominee
plus signatures of 10 voting BCR members to BCR. Contact Hillshafer for a write-in
nomination form, which may be faxed to (303) 751-9787.
