BCR Staff to Attend Kansas, Washington,
Oregon and Montana Library Conferences
BCR staff are looking forward to participating in four state library conferences in April:
the Kansas Library Tri-Conference and the Washington, Oregon and Montana Library
Association annual conferences.
The Kansas Library Tri-Conference, a joint conference of the Kansas Library Association
(KLA), Kansas Association of School Librarians (KASL) and Kansas Association for
Educational Communications and Technology (KAECT), is scheduled for April 9-11 in
Salina. Regan Harper, project manager for BCR's Member Services Division, will
represent BCR at the conference. She will speak on "Playing by the Numbers; How to
Make the Most Out of Your OCLC Statistical Reports" at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April
10, and she will also present the "BCR Network Update" at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April
11.
By attending the "BCR Network Update," library staff members will learn the latest
about OCLC, netLibrary and other electronic resources; learn what's new on the Internet
and World Wide Web; and find out what new software may be of value to libraries.
The Washington Library Association Annual Conference is scheduled for April 10-12.
Dave Brunell, BCR's executive director, will join Washington librarians in Yakima.
BCR will co-sponsor the WLA conference's keynote address. Janaki Severy, president
of Management Dynamics, will speak about "The Leadership Journey" from 7:30-9:30
a.m., Thursday, April 10.
Dave Brunell will also attend the Oregon Library Association Annual Conference in
Corvallis April 23-25. He will speak on "The Public Library as a Place in Cyberspace"
from 1:30-3 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. BCR will also co-sponsor the conference's
keynote address. Mary Minow, attorney, consultant and former librarian and library
trustee, will present "Forget the CIA. Meet the TIA. The Patriot Act and Beyond..." from
8:30-10:15 a.m., Thursday, April 24.
Lisa Holmberg, support associate in BCR's Research & Development (R&D) program,
will travel to the Montana Library Association Annual Conference scheduled for April
23-26 in Butte. Holmberg will talk about "Creating Your Library's Image on the Web"
from 8:30-10 a.m., Thursday, April 24.
We invite you to stop by BCR's booth in the Exhibit Area at all four library conferences.
Introduce yourselves and get acquainted with BCR and the products and services we
offer member libraries, including group purchases, discounts on reference databases,
consortial purchases of e-books, access to the latest in library training — distance learning
and classroom sessions — and OCLC products and services.
