The OCLC Board of Trustees has reelected William J. Crowe to chair the Board for the fourth consecutive year. Crowe is librarian for the Kenneth Spencer Research Library, University of Kansas, and a former member of the BCR Board of Trustees.

Rochelle Logan, Douglas (Colorado) Public Library District, has been elected secretary of the Council of Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) Affiliates.

Dawn Vaughn, library media specialist at Cherry Creek (Colorado) High School, is a candidate for president of the American Association of School Librarians. Kate Loggan, Upper School librarian at Oregon Episcopal School, is running to represent the Independent Schools Section, and Jody Howard, library media coordinator for the Adams County (Colorado) 12 Schools and co-director of the Library Media Program at University of Colorado at Denver, is running to represent the Supervisors Section.

Linda Deacy, Douglas County (Nevada) Library, was chosen Nevada Library Association Librarian of the Year for 2002.

Taralee Alcock is the new library director for the Petersburg (Alaska) Public Library.

Boundary County (Idaho) District Library was one of three libraries nationwide recognized by the White House in November 2002 for its partnerships with the Boundary Community Coalition for Families and the Kootenai Tribe. The library was honored as a leader in promoting family literacy.

Linda Marie Golian-Lui is the new university librarian at the Edwin H. Mookini Library, University of Hawaii at Hilo.

Jose Aponte was named executive director of the Pikes Peak (Colorado) Library District.

The new main library for the City of Eugene (Oregon) has opened downtown. A grand opening celebration was held January 11.

Rosanne Goble, director of the Southwest Kansas Library System and a former member of the BCR Board of Trustees, is the new executive director of the Kansas Library Association.

Harriet Newline was named the new director of the American Falls (Idaho) District Library.

Salt Lake City's new Main Library opened its doors February 8, with ribbon-cutting ceremonies at mid-day. The new 240,000-square-foot structure doubles the library's size. More than $2 million in new materials augment its collections.
