New Titles Added to BCR's
netLibrary Shared Collection
By Laura Chittivej
BCR recently has added another 718 titles to the BCR netLibrary Shared Collection. As always, libraries
that participate in this collection will not incur any additional fees for the new acquisitions. This is the fifth
addition of titles to the BCR Shared Collection, bringing the collection's total number of electronic book
titles to 7,290.
Remember that OCLC offers libraries free netLibrary MARC records through its WorldCat Collection Set
(WCS) service, provided library staff do not request any customization to the record apart from additions to
the 856 $z subfield. Detailed instructions about how to order the WCS netLibrary records can be found at
www.bcr.org/cataloging/wcs-netlib.html.
If you have questions about any of BCR's netLibrary collections, please contact BCR's Laura Chittivej
(lchittiv@bcr.org). Details about other BCR netLibrary collections also are available on BCR Online at
www.bcr.org/reference/Netlibrary/NL-Menu.html.
The new BCR Community College Collection of netLibrary e-books is currently open to all libraries.
Whether this new shared collection is activated, however, will be determined by the number of libraries that
commit to participate by the November 14 initial enrollment date. BCR will be unable to purchase the
collection if the total amount of funds invested at that time is insufficient to cover the cost of the proposed
collection of 1,264 e-book titles. See the BCR Web site at
www.bcr.org/reference/Netlibrary/NL-Menu.html#netlibrary
for more information on the Community
College Collection.
