Edited by Brandie Baumann and Sharon Hoffhines OCLC FirstSearch Update Users of Books In Print and PAIS International on FirstSearch are now able to view the same evaluative content that can be accessed in WorldCat, when available. This includes cover art, author notes, book summaries, table of contents and excerpts. The evaluative content will display automatically to users of the FirstSearch Web interface. Libraries that access FirstSearch via Z39.50 will see additional 856 fields that link to evaluative content. There is no increase in price for using this new feature. LexisNexis Congressional Expands Coverage LexisNexis Congressional now includes abstracts and indexes of select General Accounting Office (GAO) reports. The reports are available in PDF format and accessible by clicking on links in the CIS Index abstract. GAO reports cover a wide variety of topics and are prepared at the request of members of Congress. The CIS Index provides full subject indexing and abstracts of report content of general research value. A new feature, Retrieve Campaign 2004 News, has been added to CIS and will include approximately 20 of the latest stories on the presidential election campaign gathered from a variety of newspapers, magazines and other news sources in the LexisNexis database. This section is updated every weekday. Articles are selected to present a wide range of views based on geographical and political considerations. Ovid/Silverplatter Update Ovid is changing the titles of the following CAB databases on the SilverPlatter platform.

The following SilverPlatter local BIOSIS databases will be produced on DVD in the future because of their increasingly large sizes: BIOSIS Previews - Monthly updates on CD with a DVD archive at the end of the year. Biological Abstracts - Cumulative DVD through the year resulting in full DVD archive at the end of 2004. All back files purchased previously for either BIOSIS Previews or Biological Abstracts will be delivered on DVD. Subscribing libraries were sent letters informing them of the move. New WilsonWeb Law Database Researchers can now search key law periodicals as far back as 1918 with Index to Legal Periodicals Retrospective 1918-1981. Available exclusively on WilsonWeb, this new database covers some 700 noted publications from the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Annual surveys of the laws of a jurisdiction, annual surveys of the federal courts, yearbooks and annual reviews of the work in a given field or topic are also covered. The database includes some 500,000 records, such as book reviews and case citations, with links to full-text articles (if available) in your library's other open-URL compatible databases.
